PROF.  RONALD E. STEEN is a multi-degreed art historian working on the paintings of the 17th Century Dutch master and ancestor, Jan Steen.  He is a specialist and conducts classes on 19th Century French and 20th Century painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, drawing and graphics, as well as 17th Century Dutch Painting and The Italian Renaissance.  He is also an art and museum educator, critic, curator, former museum director and former instructor of art history at UCLA Extension, and has been an adjunct lecturer for the J. Paul Getty Museum Education Department.  He is also the Curator of Exhibitions at the Judson Gallery of Contemporary and Traditional Art.  In addition to conducting art history classes Prof. Steen has conducted art study trips to: Holland , France , Italy , New York , Philadelphia , Washington D.C. , Chicago , Arizona , San Diego and San Francisco .  Each art study trip has been for the purpose of studying art in chronological order, in depth and/or to visit an important exhibition, i.e. the 1990 "Van Gogh Retrospective" in Holland, the 1996 "The Splendors of China” exhibition in San Francisco, and in 1996 the "Cezanne Retrospective in Philadelphia, the "Picasso and Portraiture" exhibition in New York and the "Jan Steen: Painter and Storyteller" exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.  In 1992 Prof. Steen received the “Outstanding Achievement in Museum Education Award" from the Museum Educators of Southern California and in 1997 he received the "Founding President 1979-1982 Award" from the same education organization.  His knowledge and enthusiasm will be a great asset to this exceptional program.
